as promised, pics from my MICHAEL CAINES trip. the food there is really NOT BAD; then again, it's 2-Michelin-starred so it CAN'T be too bad even though he doesn't cook there. my only grouse? GIVE BIGGER PORTIONS MAN! or issit just coz everything seems high class when served in SMALL PORTIONS on a BIG white plate? hahahhaha...

the FREEFLOW bread basket! there was sun-dried tomato, a french bread thing and one last one which escapes me now. oh...and really good creamy butter! that's matt and his friend in the background. and his nice DSLR! (which he ALMOST left behind in the restaurant)

MY LOVELY SALMON STARTER infused subtly with lavender. the sauce was AMAZING and went really well with the salmon =D

david's butternut squash soup. looks easy enough to make. made squash soup before anyway...hahhahah...my culinary skills have improved much here k!

jason's rabbit and black pudding thing. looks interesting, just that black pudding is just not my thing

the cod main course! apparantly, it tasted really good and yes, it is xiao bai cai you see there.

my MAIN COURSE: PHEASANT RISOTTO with a wee onion at the side! tasted really good and not gamey at all! oh...if you don't know, pheasant is a bird that people in uk shoot down in autumn, during the hunting season. that's if you're rich and famous enough lah...

my DESSERT! poached pear with an alcohol-based icecream. i think the drink is called William-something. sounds weird writing it down. hahahha....BUT IT TASTES GOOD LOR! the alcohol just gives it some flavour without having that obnoxious "i am alcoholic'' kind of taste. aiya...it's something you must try coz it's so hard to describe.

the other dessert! chocolate cake and tonka beans! tonka beans are sort of like vanilla pods so it goes very nicely with the chocolate!

oh...then i went to "the left bank" in the evening. it's not too bad, but after having lunch at a michellin-starred restaurant, obviously....my tastebuds ah....hahhahahaha

curry and fried rice. it was interesting but GOOD.

pork belly! not mine of course, coz i will b wasting alot of it since i don't eat the fats.

BURGER AND FRIES! looks good man. reminds me of my pbl outing to KETCHUP this thurs to celebrate the end of this block! =D

carrot salad. interesting taste but not to my liking. should have ordered chips instead

seafood broth! not too bad! but if you don't eat shell-fish and are allergic to prawns, you're quite doomed. like me. hahahhaha

ANDDDDDD....the next few pictures are from cell group dinner outing! i felt cheated for the mains lor coz that place is called BAR SOBA but they DO NOT sell the soba as i know it to be. like...what the...sheesh. BUT THE DESSERTS WERE GOOD. among the 5 of us, we ordered all 4 desserts available. hahahhaha. i'll post the pretty pretty scenery from the cell group daytime outing another time.

PASSIONFRUIT BREAD PUDDING! interesting combination, but a little too sour (coz of the passionfruit)

my personal favourite dessert for the day: MINT AND MOJITO ICECREAM! refreshing, cooling, not too sweet--the PERFECT way to end ANY meal!

ok...i guess i'd better go back to slogging through my "brainy" pbl. at least i managed to finish coursework within the deadline! soooo...finish pbl then do the previous pbl, then mug for anat test. THENNNN....CAN WATCH SHOWS! =D
