making-sweetness CHAO HIGH NOW!!!!!!!
Monday, June 30, 2008 making-sweetness Back to the top

sheryl says that this probably had something to do with a sugar rush... true true. but it's probably coz MY BLOCKS ARE OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! =) and i DID have a sugar rush, thanks to those 2 cookies and 1/5 of a medium popcorn i had while watching a movie today. oh no....my dieting plan just got washed down the drain. SIGHS. i'm gonna turn FAT and DIABETIC.

ok....not like i think that my results are going to be very impressive. probably will be the direct opposite, considering that i made a gazillion stupid boo-boos and i didn't really study for it. haiz...i'll be relegated to the losers lt, ALONE. i'm just glad that i don't need to cram retarded info that i don't forsee myself using in the next 5 yrs after As. i'm bored and i probably need to turn the com over to my dad soon. that means that i can't watch a full show without being interrupted...haiz. ok...maybe i'll summarize how badly i'm gonna fare for blocks.

gp: it's all a matter of perception. enough said. i THINK i wrote relevant, logical things, but it all depends on the mark scheme and the teachers.

econs: ohmy....ms tay totally scared us by saying that someone had 3/25 for 1 of the essays. i'm praying and hoping that it's not me. but she kept quoting examples of awful mistakes made for a question that i didn't even do, i hope that's a good sign. >.<

chem: this subject made me UBER PISSED. i keep making STUPID MISTAKES. starhexasterisksplanethexexclamationmarkstarstardollarsignplanet!!!!! i was hyperventilating and getting bleary-eyed just staring at the stupid, complicated organic compounds while rushing to finish paper 1, slapping myself on the head for not studying enough, not being fast enough and (this one is really infuriating...) I DIDN'T SEE THE LAST PAGE FOR PAPER 2. i mean, i did check it, but it didn't really register in my head. at least i'm not the only one. hahaha. i totally underperformed for paper 3 lah, make DUMBASS mistakes, laxing around, taking my own sweet time....ohmysai. if liw asks me why i did so badly, i'll just say that i didn't study and that i suck, oh and ask him for consultation.

bio: serves me right if i fail this one! (i might just fail it man, no matter wad foo says about 100% passes) thank goodness for mcqs, i think. i still think that studying for this sub was quite imba and unbelievable...BUT I'LL NEVER EVER EVER ATTEMPT IT AGAIN. once is bad (and brain damage-inducing) enough. on the up-side, i did discover that one can finish studying for 1.5 yrs worth of bio in under 20 hrs if you don't eat, sleep, shower, use the wc, etc. coz i'm a normal person who does the above mentioned items, i finished most of bio except evolution and cancer. hahah....can tell that i don't really study for topics that i hate. >.<

math: imustwork10000000xfaster. period. left so many marks worth of 'know how to do but never had the time to do it' questions. i can't believe that i didn't even have the time to take a quick glance at the last question. *shakes head in disbelief and despair*

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...ENOUGH OF THIS DEPRESSING STUFF!!

watched 3 movies in as many days. watched lotr:2 towers on sat on channel 5. LEGOLAS AND GIMLI ARE SOOOOOOOOOOO FUNNY! PIPPIN AND MERRY TOO!!! that's probably the 3rd time i'm watching this movie and i still like it! i've read the entire book too, as in the whole trilogy. nice but slightly cheem and i do wish that peter jackson was more faithful to the ending of the book.

then watched narnia: the lion, the witch and the wardrobe on sun (thanks to channel 5 again...) NICE SHOW LOR, so people should stop comparing it to lotr. it's very very rich in christian symbology...if you know the biblical facts well that is. that's probably coz c.s lewis (the author of the book) was a christian (i think he was a theologist or something) and he likes to incorporate christian stuff into his books. read all 7 books in the series (from magician's nephew to the very last book, which i can't for the life of me remember the title of) before i was 10, i think. LOVED THAT SERIES MAN! especially in the last book, where all the characters in the previous books come together to defeat the enemy in the last last battle. of course, i wasn't able to draw parallels to biblical teaching then lah, i'm not that zai....

watched 21 after blocks today with cheryl, caro, suat and wenyan. we are such efficient people! we were let off at around 10.50 and we made it for the 11.30 show, complete with popcorn and cookies! it's quite cool, though the middle part does get a tad draggy. it's about 5 MIT students who win big money at vegas using simple math! watching them count cards as they play blackjack was quite cool, though i still don't know how the system works and i don't have the brainpower to remember those cards and stuff. i mean, just look at my AWFUL bridge-skills. it almost made kuanhua and shoukee cry. hahahaha. caro had to go off early for her training, but we met nic and ate at crystal jade! then shopped around for a bit....just bought my nice coolio shoelaces. =)

oh wells....long post (coz i'm too high liao lor!) going out tmr again! holiday mah!

*rolls eyes* really, how DUH is that. some people never fail to drive me up the wall, get on my nerves, etc...

making-sweetness that sinking feeling.....
Wednesday, June 25, 2008 making-sweetness Back to the top

weep. sob. emo.

arghhhhARGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH. i'm gonna tear my hair out really soon....this is so annoying. wth is wrong with me lah! damnit. too careless. just throwing marks down the drain. and i'm clearly gonna screw up everything else too......ohmysai.

wanna cry now, for 2 very contrasting reasons. to weep in joy and gratitude for all my parents have ever done and will ever do for me AND to sob in misery over not doing my best and for screwing up everything.

that noxious cocktail of hormones that one gets ever so often (and pretty regularly too) is SO NOT HELPING.

making-sweetness chao screwed....
Sunday, June 22, 2008 making-sweetness Back to the top

die die DIE. the fact that holidays end in a few hours time (and my blocks start in that same few hours time) hasn't sunk in AT ALL. argh.....luckily it's only gp tomorrow. not that i bothered studying for gp, especially since i'm not even 1/3 way through the whole 'mugging for everything else' process. GG. hahahah....this sense of dread was the most overwhelmingly nauseating when i crafted my 'study plan for the rest of the week' today. yes. i only crafted it today. i'm not kidding either....just shows how screwed i am for blocks.

how screwed is jane's life? oh let me count the ways...
1. screwed for blocks. totally. it's a miracle if i can pass everything since i know that i honestly didn't study much. enough said.

2. screwed circadian clock. i TRIED to right it during the holidays, but i obviously failed dismally. i wake up pretty late (totally opposite from my plan to wake up early to mug), read newspaper and have a looooooooooong breakfast. then i ATTEMPT to start studying till lunch, which is slightly more than an hour from the time i finished eating breakfast. end up stoning till my LOOOOOOOONG lunch. try mugging again after lunch, but unfortunately succumb to the temptations of sleep....and wake up during dinner time. oops. jane starts to feel anxious after dinner and actually mugs productively (wow! surprise surprise) till goodness knows what time in the morning. (usually a time between 2am to 5am) AND THE CYCLE CONTINUES....HOW SCREWED IS THAT.

3. screwed me. i have issues with myself. i suck. and i ate soooooo much during the holiday that i forsee problems in getting rid of that slight paunch that i have now. ARGH.

on a lighter note....i've got a loooooooooooong list of shows that i want to watch after blocks! it's been accumulating since the start of the year, so some shows are not so recent while i've been talking about watching some of the shows for a loooooong time. no time to watch mahhhhh...

1. finish watching hanakimi (jap 1 of course)
2. watch nodame cantabile (anime AND the acted out 1)
3. watch hong gil dong
4. finish watching 斗牛 (ya....i can't believe i'm still not done with that...got bored halfway)
5. rewatch 恶魔
6. rewatch full house
7. watch 识法代言人 (i only watched the middle part in hk....)
8. watch 我的野蛮奶奶2
9. watch 翻滚吧,蛋炒饭
10. wait for that basketball show with wuzun, show luo, etc...

ok....i think the list is long enough, especially since i'll probably accumulate more 'i wanna watch!!!' shows along the way...

making-sweetness bored of mugging liaooooooo....
Thursday, June 19, 2008 making-sweetness Back to the top

hahaha.....i'm sooooooooo sick and tired of mugging, even though today wasn't exactly a very productive day. i'm behind schedule and all that.....heck lah. die then die lah.

anywayssssssssss...i bet the com HATES me. i swear, it really does. my com is so imba that it has taken AI to a whole new level. it has feelings and it can sense what you're going to use it for.

why? 1. IT NEVER SEEMS TO WORK WHEN I SWITCH IT ON (these few days at least). wow. it's so smart that it can detect who's the one giving it life and power (by switching on the main switch...hehe). it just beeps. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP. but when my sis or dad turns it on....nooooo...it never seems to give them problems. only me. HMPH. my sis said that i'm jinxed or something...hahahha. i'm only able to type this coz my sis turned on the com.

2. IT KNOWS WHEN I'M GONNA USE IT FOR SLACKING PURPOSES-AND PROMPTLY DOESN'T WORK. it just seems to be able to sense it, for some unknown reason. it works when people are gonna use it to type something out, but when i want to use it to watch some show...no....it doesn't want to work. just as well, i guess, since i'm suppose to be mugging really hard for blocks now. (obviously i'm not....) maybe the system is rigged. should go and sell my com to some parent who has trouble getting his/her kid off the com and stop them from playing com games or slacking. i'll earn alot of money this way....hahah

it's amusing but very annoying. ok....i'll go back to mugging some more (though i'm sooooooooo bored, sick and tired of mugging that i actually notice such boliao things and proceed to dedicate a post to such trivial matters).

ohhhhh....nvm. too late to mug anyway, nothing will get past that thick skull of mine at this hour. heard this v v v v v nice song by 刘力扬! http://www.1ting.com/player/b6/player_229150.html
liuliyang is my fav female singer now. her voice is really strong and soothing! she's got attitude, cool clothes and nice hair too! hahahaha...i guess i sound abit shallow there. anyway, i love her duet with yanyalun too! ti amo is chao sweet, yet not cloyingly (i think this word exists...) so, which is good. i'm biased towards 我就是这样 too coz it's really funky and it's got tank in it!!!! =D hahaha....i'm biased towards him and his songs. XP too bad he's only doing the rap and some minor harmonisation...nvm. at least he's in it. but i don't quite like this other duet, 神话. it's quite generic and the lyrics are a tad cheesy. honestly, only couples that are deeply in love can sing it with their beloved without puking halfway through the song. the line just before the chorus really makes my hair stand and my goosebumps come out, the chorus too. aiyah....i just find that song too mushy for my liking... >,<

making-sweetness WOOT! thailand trip...part 2
Tuesday, June 10, 2008 making-sweetness Back to the top

that one was about bangkok, this is about chiangmai. both were blogged intermittently (argh..sp...), so the dates in which they were published aren't really reflective of anything. the fact that i'm going to kuantan in less than 8hrs time hasn't really sunk in either. argh....my blocks are so screwed....

actually, i just keep saving these stuff as 'drafts', so while the above para was really written on the date reflected there, everything else is written 1week later, ie AFTER i have returned from kuantan.

but as usual, i digress. time to get back on track again. XD

tuesday...early early in the morning. more like mon night, but after 12am.

landed in the middle of the night, like around 12am, so i guess it is actually more accurate to classify this as 'tuesday'. anyway, we were fetched to the hotel in these 'taxis', but they really look more like rickety red vans. it was quite an experience in chiangmai, coz that place is more laidback and not as advanced as bangkok. i mean, it's more ulu since it's in a rural area and it is kinda different from any cosmopolitan city (obviously).
kept forgetting to take pics of the vans in the day, so too bad. this was actually much worse (coz it was too dark and all), but i edited it a little so that it's not that unseeable (another made-up word)

farrica and i on the van, i'm obviously half-asleep by that time. and so was everyone else i guess.

anyway, we passed all the nice hotels and we were getting a leeeeettle bit anxious when the van seemed to stop in this ulu, really rundown place. very unfortunately for us, we were at the hotel. it's a spooky, creaky and rather dirty hotel called 'D town inn' or something, but we just called it the creepy hotel. dunno who even called it the cockroach hotel. either way, it wasn't a really good end (or a comfortable one for that matter) to a loooooooong day. hahahaha....dunno who were too spooked out to sleep after finding their room infested with moths, while others were too disgusted to sleep after finding bloodstains on the sheets in their room. actually, the hotel looks ok on the websites and brochures, but the pics were probably taken eons ago, when the hotel was first established....>.< yp ="D).">

in the end, some people were so peeved and freaked out by the rooms that they called a meeting to change hotels in the middle of the night. obviously we can't possibly swop hotels at 1+am in the morning with all goodwill in the world, so we crammed more people into 1 room and stuff. i guess it's the mentality of safety in numbers at work. hahah. got shoukee and kuanhua to bunk in with us (we have 4 beds mah....and their room had brown water flowing out of the tap when they first turned it on). hahaha....and wangzhuo and ma siyuan moved to shoukee and kuanhua's room coz they were abit freaked out by the prospect of staying alone on the 11th floor(so much for wangzhuo's show of 'manliness')

soooooo 4 people in our room! not as bad as some others who had 8 people in their room....that's insane. well, 4 people in the room means that you can play card games! hahaha....this was farrica's downfall-she got 'addicted' to bridge after learning how to play it properly then. it doesn't help that the other 2 guys were bridge pros (and addicts. XP) THE GAMES WERE SOOOOO HILARIOUS! i partnered farrica (coincidentaly) in the first game and we won that round (without even knowing it....ahahah)!!! like, both of us didn't know that we were partners and we didn't even realise that we won enough sets! the guys were probably exasperated by the way we play....hahah. ma siyuan and wangzhuo saved the 2 pro guys from our pathetic attempts at playing bridge for a while when they came over to our room to play bridge. eventually went to bathe and sleep at around 3.30am.

tuesday morning, REALLY daytime.

was woken up by people hollering at the door at 8am. (it was those 2 early birds next door, masiyuan and wangzhuo, calling us to go down and eat breakfast. sighs.) and yes, the beginning of a frightfully loooooooong day. kuanhua didn't wanna wake up, so went down for breakfast without him (after washing up and stuff lah....duh.) breakfast paled in comparison to that in the previous hotel-it was just measly fried rice and boiled cabbage.

went back up to try to get kh to wake up. he kept mumbling about letting him sleep when we told him to go down and eat breakfast BUT had a completely different reaction when we told him that we're gonna play bridge. HAHAHAHA....TYPICAL BRIDGE ADDICT! he sat up immediately and asked us to deal the cards....hahaha. sheesh. couldn't play for too long coz there was a meeting to decide if we should change hotels and stuff....and i had to check out my borrowed cello. it was in much better condition than i had expected, though the bridge was a little on the low side and it had squeaky china strings. wayne's one had a half-hairless bow lah! hahaha.

anywayz, we went sightseeing in chiangmai in the afternoon. went to some temple where there was apparantly some annual festival going on, or so the locals say. not that i really like going to see temples or something, but i think the architecture is not bad. below are the random pics....

oh....and below's the only pic that has me in it. hahaha....i just think that the building in question is quite pretty. poor shoukee's shoes got stolen at the temple, so he had to wear ah pek slippers for the rest of the day....poor guy. anyway, we had to go find our own food for lunch. i mean, there were a lot of road-side stalls selling padthai, cakes, deepfried thingies on sticks, etc, but we were kinda scared of getting food-poisoning to eat them. there was some pizza place around there lah, but they were soooooooooooooo slow and we (farrica and i) were so afraid that we might have to go before the food arrived, so we didn't eat there. ended up eating cup noodles that we bought at this small bookstore near the temple. the bookstore uncle was CHAO NICE! he provided us with the hot water and let us eat in the shop at some random table there! of course, he asked us random questions about where we were from, what were we here for, etc. this is one of the times during the trip where i really really felt that the Lord was going before us and providing for us =)

received really goooooood news when we returned to the hotel! (after we had stoned in the lobby with ma siyuan coz we need to wait for the other guys to come back. only have 1 pathetic key mah) after proud's parents saw the appalling conditions in the hotel, they found another hotel and we could stay there instead! and it's not as though we complained to them or what. this is another time where i felt that the Lord was right beside us, looking out for us =)

yar...we checked into that hotel after the sightseeing. then went to payap university for the concert. (it's in the outskirts of chiangmai and it reminds me of papaya for some unknown reason...) now that concert was ABSOLUTELY SURREAL! the audience was BRILLIANT (i mean, they actually loved schnittke. like. wow. once-in-a-lifetime occurence man) and that was one of the best performances we have ever given. of course, it was mixed with a twinge of sadness, coz that's probably the last time i'll ever play in a strings orch ba. haiz.....like the last swan song (i think that's how this phrase is used...but i'm not sure) lotsa people shed tears, especially those that have been together in the same cca for the past 6yrs. i may not exactly enjoy strings lah, but this concert kinda signifies a fullstop to a period of time in my life, so i guess i had mixed feelings about it all...

cello and bass section photo! (but must minus wanfang at the side.) anyway, at the back, from left starting with the guy holding the cello: minjun, kenneth, tingzhen, eunice, brian, audrey, dennis, me and wayne. in front: wangzhuo and ma siyuan, dunno doing what.

hahaha.....then took pics with all the juniors in my section....

with minjun! hahaha....section leader who's gonna take over kenneth...

with tingzhen! (super quiet but slightly eccentric) ASL who's gonna take over eunice (and likes to bully me...)

with wayne s. wang! he's also super quiet, but he can get quite retarded at times....

with wangzhuo! hahahaha....this pic is purely for fun lah. he's very retarded and good to niao...haha

hahaha.....both of us give him face lah. sheesh.

then, i took pics with other people. man....too bad i don't have the one with my sl group. that was a really nice pic! *reminds self to go and get pic from farrica*

with my dear stand partner, AUDREY! hahahahah

with my h3 partner, gloria! she's like chao smart and hardworking....

with diyou! super funny guy man.....too bad i don't have the other funnier pic....with valencia! nice junior from s75 man!!! oh...and farrica. hahaha

then, we were treated to this shabu shabu thing! SUPER SUPER NICE! especially the pork which has been cooked until the fats are all crispy, very sinful but chao hao chi! after a while, we got bored and full, so we did random boliao things, like attempting to make sambal kangkong, with poor valencia as our guinea pig. XP obviously, we went back to the hotel dog-tired...haha

wednesday.

went for some workshop with the chiangmai youth orch. they're not as zhai as the people in thai youth orch, but i guess they aren't bad. the place we had it at was quite freaky and underused though. there was such a thick layer of dust on top of the grand piano there and there was a slightly musty smell in that room. anyway, we played eine kliene (the whole thing this time...) so it's not so bad. XP

had lunch after that, with tomyum. dunno who ordered it...but it was chao cheap. like 35 baht for a big pot, that's less than S$2. wow. the food there is really super cheap lah! ooooo....had nice mango rice too....but diyou finished half of it while i queued up with farrica for drinks. sighs. greedy guy.

went to see some elephant show after that. just slept all the way in the bus....too tired liaoz. but the show was ok...they have more artistic talent than me lah....hmph. too bad all the small jap kids took up all the tickets for the ride....=( i wanted to go for an elephant ride man....

with proud and her cute little brother!!!!! the rest of the pics are about the elephants lah...

after seeing elephants, we went to some museum, which was actually someone's house. lotsa cool paintings and stuff there. i'm just wondering about how they are going to clean the dust from soooooooo many pieces of furniture and stuff....random thought ba. hahahaha....and farrica took a very-good-to-blackmail-wangzhuo pic. hahahahha....i just like to niao him lah....coz he's so retarded. chao tired on the bus back, so i obviously slept the whole way back.

had a nice nice dinner with the hosts with (obviously) tomyum soup (again), some really really delish chiangmai sausages and other stuff. went to the night market after that and SHOPPED AGAIN! almost couldn't go coz it was pouring lah and they claimed that the night market would be flooded. luckily, after badgering them, they let us go! otherwise, we would have to rot in the hotel on the last night lah. the very efficient us managed to buy alot of stuff in that 1 hour we were given, unlike the 2 prcs who came back pretty much...empty-handed. hahaha. bought a nice stripy cloth bag to replace the crumpler (that spastic crumpled brown bag) and possibly my gonna-break-v-soon school bag. bought shirts, accessories and some food too! farrica finally bought stuff for herself (and not for her sister) too! stayed up to play some card games after packing up all our stuff....hahahah

thursday...

darn. different flight from farrica-she's taking the later flight. anyway, audrey, eunice, tingzhen, dennis, brian, wangzhuo, ma siyuan and chen kai were on the same flight as me. the flight to bangkok was delayed by a bit, but we still managed to get out of the bangkok airport by 12pm to do last last last minute shopping! hahaha....went to platinum mall, which i didn't manage to go into the last time we were in bangkok. managed to rent a van at the airport to take us there and back! only eunice and brian decided to go to mbk instead, while the rest of us split up at platinum since we were gonna shop for different stuff.

i went with audrey (and the teacher, who wanted to follow us for some unknown reason). tingzhen was with us for some time....before she mysteriously wandered off....scared me lah. bought a pair of shorts, some accessories and a very very very cute pouch there! hahaha...i sound like a shopaholic man.... chen kai ate away the time that we were there shopping lah....i guess that's coz he's a guy who doesn't like to shop. hahaha. dennis bought alot of shirts there man....while wangzhuo and ma siyuan bought a shirt each (which is super ironic coz they kept complaining that they had too much money left lah. hahah) tingzhen bought stuff for her friends and the teacher bought a pair of sunglasses. audrey bought toooooo many stuff to name man...hahha.

anyway, we almost missed the flight lah! but we did successfully delay it..hahaha. *feels guilty...* coz there was a jam on the way back to the airport, which we were unfortunately caught in. THEN, there was a looooooooooooooooooong queue at the immigration (with some ANNOYING people cutting our queue) and the immigration officer was kinda...slow. anyway, we practically RAN to the gate and onto the plane. hahahhaa....the angmoh next to me was like "did you run?", while i sheepishly tried to explain about the loooooooooong queue while catching my breath.

the rest of flight was kinda uneventful i guess. shared a cab with brian and chen kai coz my wonderful dad would rather go and play badminton than pick me up from the airport...hahaha. shall just stop here. maybe i'll talk about kuantan next time. didn't really get a tan there tho....sadly. XP wah...this entry is super long.....

making-sweetness WOOT!!!! *warning: long post ahead....*
Sunday, June 8, 2008 making-sweetness Back to the top

obviously, the very brilliant you can guess what i'm going to blog about. it's like...DUH. but i shall digress a bit first and talk about other stuff.

took SATS yesterday and saw soooooooooo many exMG gals there. hahaha....i thought they would take theirs at AC, but apparantly, they would rather take their SATS in town (probably to facilitate their shopping trip later in the day). i guess it was ok, considering that i didn't study very much for it and i didn't make it past half of the wordlist thing. just tikam lah...hahahaha. i'll be contented with 2200.

but had this really really really bad stomachache today. like pukes-out-most-of-my-lunch-and-gets-confined-to-the-toilet kind of bad. sucks man....must be food i had at platinum plaza on the last day in thailand. hurrah for carbon and lomotil! lolz...jane doesn't understand why she doesn't get stomachache after eating mouthfuls of padthai and mango sticky rice from roadside stalls, but gets food poisoning after eating snacks at a shopping centre. argh....still feel queasy now....

ok...now i'll return to the crux of the matter. the highlight of the past week. HCSE TRIP TO THAILAND 2008!!! =) chao chao chao chao fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahah....knew some of the juniors better, went crazy with the shopping, but most importantly, it was an eye-opening experience. i could truly feel the Lord beside us all the way, helping us to resolve all the problems that cropped up and just protecting and keeping watch over us. i also saw some stuff that really touched me and made me realise how blessed i am here in singapore. seriously. like when i saw 2 BAREFOOTED kids who were probably less than 10 years old wiping car windows for a paltry sum at the traffic light, my heart totally went out to them. the weather was soooooooo hot (and i bet the tarmac road was burning too) there and these kids should be going to school lah! not wiping people's windows. man.....it was such a sad sight...i really feel sooooooo blessed here.

maybe i wouldn't be able to finish this today coz my dad is adament about chasing me from the com. sighs. i'll go in chronological order =)

saturday...

UBER LONG DAY!!!!! got up at 4am to go to the airport coz the flight was at around 7am. jane is not a morning person so jane was only half awake. flew via thai airways and THERE WASN'T A PERSONAL TV LEH! ok....it's been ages since i got onto a plane without 1 of those things. hahaha. at least i didn't have to lug my cello around and my check-in was only around 8kg. chao light.

random ensem pic at the airport...

plane food was ok lah and i didn't do any work on the plane ok. XP ANYWAYS, skip skip to touchdown in bangkok. it's 1 hr behind singapore time. darn...i don't have a pic of kenneth waiting for jacqueline (his cello XP) at the airport. he was looking forlornly (does this word even exist?) at the bulky luggage place, waiting for a glimpse of silver (his cello case is silver mah...) perfect kodak moment XD. anyways, we went to a NICE nice hotel called palawan hotel, which had really nice food. i mean REALLY REALLY GOOD BREAKFAST AND LUNCH! it's the nicest among the 3 hotels that we stayed in =)

random pic of dessert that we (ie farrica n i) mixed....

had a short short prac in the hotel after we chucked our stuff into our rooms. obviously i roomed with my strings bestie, farrica. hahaha....too bad yingpeng couldn't come along, but we did take pics with the tap in all our hotel rooms. (it's an insider thing...) aww...but the pics are with farrica (must remind self to kope pics from her after block test. she has alot of our pics....)

what bored people (like me) do during practice...take random pics. XD

went to mabukong (argh....thai word. dunno how to spell. nvm, just call it mbk.) to shop after this!!! walked to the mrt station from the hotel, then switched to the sky train. quite amused to see how vigilant the mrt station guards are-they blow their whistles SUPER LOUDLY if any itsy bitsy part of you crosses the yellow line on the floor. such paranoid people. anyway, that place is HUGE! good place to buy (fake branded) bags and shoes. there's 6/7 storeys worth of retail space and it's about the size of IMM (or even bigger XP) Attempted to find a bag to replace my 'crumpler', but couldn't really find one coz i don't like those fake branded bags that display the brand that they're trying to fake so prominently. sheesh....so poser to carry such a bag (i don't care if people say that imitation is the greatest compliment, i don't support fake stuff.)

but.....i did buy pressies for the gals in my class and a nice pair of converse shoes! the converse shoes there are a steal! only about S$30 leh! and it's probably the real macoy (at least i hope it is...) had a quick quick dinner upstairs, where farrica ordered this totally not spicy tomyum soup. tasted more like the mildest of laksa to me....XP Then, went to shop summore! hahaha....guys operate differently from girls: we spent most of our time shopping, while they spent slightly more than 2hrs eating their shabu shabu. hahahaha. pooped out when we got back...so i didn't really do much work that night (as usual)

sunday...

felt weird not going to church on sunday. didn't see any church nearby anyway. went for a workshop with the thai youth orchestra instead, ie a must sight-read like mad session. mozart's eine kleine is still relatively sight-readable, but the marriage of figaro is a totally different story altogether. running quavers in the first 8bars left me...stunned. shocked. hahaha....obviously i just faked it man...ahahahaha.

my stand-partner for the day! i bet she practised the marriage of figaro like mad since she played that fast part so well....

had our own practice too so played bits of holberg and tchaik just before lunch. lunch was a relatively simple affair i guess....then went back in to play schnitte. eunice suddenly dropped the bomb by asking me to play that imba high solo part like 1bar before i was suppose to play...hahah. at least i managed to push the part back to her. the thai youth orch people looked quite amused while we played that...hahaha. it's such an avant garde piece, quite surprized that they seemed to enjoy it (maybe they were just being polite...)

went shopping (again....hahah) after practice, this time it was free-and-easy, so different people went to different places. had to go in a big group of at least 5 people, with both guys and girls for obvious safety reasons, so we (bestie and i) went to SIAM SQUARE with tianyi, dennis, brian, diyou, guanhui, alan and zhengwei. diyou probably wanted to kill farrica and me coz he INSISTED on squeezing into the backseat of the cab with us (he claims that he wanted to separate us, but that's a different story altogether.) brian sat in front lah, while we poor girls were squished with diyou at the back, especially when the cab does a sharp turn...just gg. hahaha....ok lah, it wasn't that bad. just trying to niao diyou by exaggerating the situation. XP

after finally reuniting with the rest of the people who took another cab, we split up to go gal shopping (otherwise the guys would be soooooo bored...hahaha) at SIAM SQUARE! there's more funky stuff here, not so much tacky fake branded stuff. 大收获here!!!! bought 2 tops, 1 skirt (yes...i do wear skirts, just not that often...), 1 nice pair of flats, 1 bag, some accessories....can't remember liao. oh...1 super kawaii 10baht pencil to replace the 1 that i lost the previous day. SUPER CHEAP STUFF LAH! tianyi and farrica bought lotsa stuff too!!! hahahahahaha....i wanna go back there to shop lah. saw that hello kitty shop that ms june tan (this mg lit teacher...) took a pic of when she went to bangkok. spam hello kitty stuff man. oh....and i found out that thai people are unbelievably skinny....can barely get into some of the clothes there lah. =( my shoulders are too broad to wear some of the tops and stuff...

after that, met back with those ungentlemenly guys who made us wait for them while they attempted to buy stuff at mbk. sheesh....they're not as efficient as us girls lor...hahaha. alan has pics, but they're not very flattering, so i shan't kope those ugly pics of us. went to platinum mall after that to eat and shop somemore, but was ripped off lah! 150baht for a 15min ride. darn. and that spastic platinum mall and nearby pratunam plaza both close at 8pm...which is sooooooo annoying since we only left mbk at 7++pm. we did see audrey, eunice, sarah and zhiwei at the swensons there...hahahah. but we went walking round to find food, especially since diyou was complaining on and on about his empty stomach. there's lotsa street food there, but we were quite apprehensive about eating those stuff (fears about food poisoning and all that...), so we eventually settled for some cosy(and very empty) cafe. there was absolutely DELISH mango sticky rice sold nearby, with mangoes TO DIE FOR! chao chao chao nice!!!! diyou gobbled 1 of his many packets of mango rice while waiting for the rest of the food to come.
all of us at that cafe thing! too bad the 2 malaysians look....hahahahahha.

wanted to walk around the pasar malam-ish stalls outside pratunam plaza, but we were all called back to the hotel coz of the anti-govt demonstrations nearby. awwwwwww....it was a peaceful protest man, with singing and all...nevermind. hahahaha....at least the taxi driver forced diyou to sit in front this time...hahaha. went back, worried for a while about the demonstration thingy and was bored enough to take random pics with farrica (the rest of them are with her though...hahah).

both of us doing....hahahaha....retarded stuff.

our very messy hotel room (but that's because we were packing our stuff....)

monday...

went to harrow international school to perform and stuff. but we took some pics before we checked out...

batch photo!!!! 2 cousins in front...hahaha.

diyou's very oxymoronic shirt. (it says 'hey skinny' there btw and the comic behind is hilarious)

anyways...THAT SCHOOL IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NICE. the school building is nice, clean, well-organised and almost fully air-conditioned. they've got really cute hats as part of the uniform too! like your typical anglo-fied boarding school (think eton's uniform and you get the picture). the school fees are about s$2000 a month, comparable to HCIS. but, it's definitely more worth it to go to harrow for the same price coz the facilities are SOOOOOOOOO much better and they even intend to build an arts centre on the lake. i mean....they even have a lake on their compounds man....no fair. they prepared a buffet for us and the spread was 100000times better than anything that hc serves it's guests at special functions. seriously, the principal ceo should visit harrow and LEARN from them. totally.

shucks...i've got alot of stoning pics. soooooooo unglam and ugly. i won't put ANY of those here. you can link from the strings blog to the 'official webpage' if you want. XP there's lotsa pics on that webbie coz there was this 'professional' photographer guy going round taking random pics and asking people to take random pics. concert was quite ok tho...just that i was stoning so i wouldn't say that i really played my best. i guess everyone was too tired to concentrate on the pieces properly.

but i did take quite a no. of pics later, just that most of them were not using my cam. hahahah.

random pic with farrica! hahahahah...

that's hut (not really sure how to spell his name, but it's pronounced like that), the lone thai cellist who joined us. he studies at that cool school on scholarship man..no fair...

this is proud! she's the daughter of the couple that helped arrange the trip for us and she's a really nice gal! (though she really was kinda quiet at first...)

rushed to the airport after the concert to catch the flight to chiangmai, even though it was only about 6pm and the flight was at around 11pm. the domestic airport was kinda....sparse. nothing to buy, not many places to eat at and stuff. a stark difference from changi airport.

coz there was absolutely nothing to do in that airport, we just take random pics. 1st 1 is jnr-snr pic with valencia, then with farrica added in.

anyways, we just ate thai food there (yet another meal with tomyum....) and waited for the flight. decided to do 1 SAT paper sporadically: do 1-2 parts, play 1 game of connect-4 with wayne (and win), do 1 more part, watch ma siyuan challenge wayne to connect-4, do another part, look here and there....you get the idea. hahahahahah..bored to tears mah. farrica gave up on mugging after the 1st page of econs.

thennnn, after waiting for a looooooooooooong time, we got on the plane to chiangmai! since that was a really really really long day, i will continue with the rest of it in the next post that's been dedicated to chiangmai. XP
