making-sweetness the good, the bad and the PLAIN ANNOYING
Tuesday, March 31, 2009 making-sweetness Back to the top

the good. THE NEW TV HAS BEEN DELIVERED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =D yay! it's a nice sony LCD (coz they don't sell the other older types anyway), 40-in, full hd. NICE. looks pretty =) plus can see the pictures from the kitchen while i'm trying to clean the kitchen! yayness! hope it doesn't spoil so soon...

the bad. I SHOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT MY CELLO FROM THAT SPASTIC SHOP LAST TIME. rip me off. it keeps giving me problems (like the spastic neck sinking in, not very nice sound, etc...) so i couldn't take it and brought it to the shop for the uncle there to "tsk tsk tsk" at. the 850 bucks cello there sounds so much better than mine and i found out that the people at the shop where i bought it from cut the bridge wrongly. 真的害死人....anyway, the bridge has been chopped down by alot and i bet i can't fit the mute in anymore coz my bridge is so thick. on the upside, it is MUCH EASIER to play now....less painful.

the PLAIN ANNOYING. SPASTIC &*^&$%#$ ANTS!!!! there's nothing sweet lying around in the kitchen, yet they keep coming back. grrrrrrr....i was keeping a kill-count out of boredom yesterday, but i killed so many that i lost count. i blame the STUPID ANT-TRAIL. that is the thing about ants that piss me off the most. they gather together, scheme ALOT then lead their fellow ants round and round in this LONG ANNOYING TRAIL to the supposed "site of the holy grail". i swear those ants actually send out SPIES to check out the surroundings, then they go back to report to the head of the ants or something. how else can i explain why they come out as 1 or 2 when i'm around the kitchen but come in DROVES when i go outside to watch tv?

ANNOYING ANTS. nice alliteration...hehehe. fine, i'm just pissed coz i spent about half an hour trying to wreck the ant trail and decimate the ant population. my dad says they come from outside, but they had the trail running down the wall, into one of the many "tile groove lines" on the floor and into the cupboard. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY DAOED THE "insect heaven" RUBBISH BIN TO CONGREGATE ROUND THE PARTITION IN THE CUPBOARD! like...what are those ants thinking? they even daoed the rice and carbs stored in that cupboard. *scratches head*

whatever. they don't learn their lessons well k. they still DARE to come back today. I'LL KILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL THEM ALLLLLLLLLLL. sounds vicious, but they are just ants. it just so happens that my policy regarding ants is 见一个,杀一个!!!!!

making-sweetness of tvs and church
Sunday, March 29, 2009 making-sweetness Back to the top

I SHALL MOURN THE DEMISE OF MY (about 5 year old) TV WITH ONE MINUTE OF SILENCE. starting from now...
.
.
.
ok, 1 minute is up. anyway, it started to spoil yesterday, emitting only noise but no pictures. =( JUST A WHITE SCREEN. then, it got even worse during dinner today with a BLACK screen and no sound =((((( but it's sort of recovered abit so there's noise now, a flash of images once in a blue moon, the changing from a BLANK WHITE screen to a FUCHSIA PINK screen and back, etc. at least u can still change the channel now.

NEVERMIND. since my mum is a tv junkie who LOVES watching tv, my parents went out to buy a replacement today. dunno when it will it be delivered but nvm. since they don't sell ctr tvs anymore, the new tv is an lcd! like my grandma's. HAHAHAHAHA

oh. and about church. keep dragging my cello to church coz have to play for different stuff, but it's fun! hahaha....and i think i was being very lame/emo/retarded (but at least in a sincere way. i hope. i was being very truthful and sincere k.) during my testimony. i don't think many people see the siao siao side of me (unless you're in my group. or my good friend), but i just really wanted to make sure that firstly, people don't fall asleep and secondly, that people do get my main points. only 3 main points, not too many. =)

ahhhhh...and i like this choir song! it's in chinese lah, coz good friday and sunrise services are combined with the mandarin side, so must sing mandarin songs with the IMBA chinese choir. seriously...PRO. 佩服佩服. of course, the bad part is the alleluia song which switches between english and chinese after every sentence. anna-joy is seriously FUNNY and cute--must choose between singing this song in chinese (a most dreadful thought for her) or playing the violin. guess which she chose. XD

it's a good friday song btw, hence the mood of it. i think the melody is REALLY NICE, but it's the meaningful words that really make this song so special. of course, i guess it's only meaningful once one comprehends the extent of the LOVE OF GOD to (worthless, 'speck of dust'-like) humans (like me).

making-sweetness (not so) desperate (to be a) housewife
Tuesday, March 24, 2009 making-sweetness Back to the top

urgh....i swear my fingers still reek of garlic. there's no mistake about that stench. no wonder people claim that vampires are scared of garlic, i mean, that smell puts ANYONE off, not just said vampires.

anyway, due to unforseen circumstances, i'm probably going to sweep, mop, wash, cut, cook, fold, iron, hang up, scrub, etc...for the rest of the week. luckily i swept my room, main toilet and study today, so that's less to sweep tomorrow! =D but it's ok, all that matters now is GOOD HEALTH.

aw man....i just remembered i had to write something. argh. don't like writing stuff, but too bad. no one else wants to do it..=(

making-sweetness heartbreak...
Wednesday, March 18, 2009 making-sweetness Back to the top

my sister broke my heart today. =( no lah...it's actually not that serious, but i want a sentence and a title that will grab people's attentions. hahahahahahahaha

anyway, after dinner with some 75ers in plaza sing, i called my sis to ask if i could go home with her (coz i don't intend to waste my money dying at the com.) and she ask me to go home by myself....*sob* jkjk. hahahaha

soooooo....i got on the 1st bus that came-- a 171. the only home-going bus that goes to the bus stop opposite taka. lotsa lotsa people got on it, including my sis (though i didn't know coz she was stuck in front) then i saw tiffany!!!!! who was in the middle...and she only saw my sis, not me. so she thought her mum was referring to my sis as the 'familiar looking person'.

thennnnnnnn....i saw tiffany and she saw me! so (in classic handbeller style) WE STARTED WAVING FRANTICALLY!!!! =D hehehe...then we started talking. to cut the chase, even though i saw my sis halfway through the journey, she only saw me when we got off. ='( joanne hurts jane's feelings. ='(

ooooooooo...i didn't realise that this is my 200th post! whoppee! in view of this momentous occasion, i'll go beneath myself and post the results of this retarded quiz i took. the questions have no link and i randomly clicked away at the options. i still don't know how the questions and results are related. HECK...some of it even contradicts each other. i wonder what the person who set this quiz was thinking....

~
Your view on yourself:You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.

The seriousness of your love:You like to flirt and behave seductively. The opposite sex finds this very attractive, and that's why you'll always have admirers hanging off your arms. But how serious are you about choosing someone to be in a relationship with?

Your views on educationEducation is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

The right job for you:You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.

How do you view success:Success in your career is not the most important thing in life. You are content with what you have and think that being with someone you love is more than spending all of your precious time just working.

What are you most afraid of:You are concerned about your image and the way others see you. This means that you try very hard to be accepted by other people. It's time for you to believe in who you are, not what you wear.

Who is your true self:You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

making-sweetness what if?
Sunday, March 15, 2009 making-sweetness Back to the top

since i'm still slacking, i've got alot of time to think! hence......the topic for today! =D

was wondering for the longest time whether to put it here or on my locked up lj (btw, if you want to see what sort of crap i write in there, just ask me...oh and get an lj XP). but it doesn't really matter anyway, since these are all HYPOTHETICAL situations. one can't press "rewind" and edit parts of one's life to see the effect of the change. XD

1. what if i took up the challenge to become a gepper in p3?
i'll prob go to rgps, get stuck in their toilets even though the school was relatively new (that was the only thing that my rgps friend told me that remained in my mind) and slog my way, competeing with the imba. then...i might just have gone to do ip. and....well....my best friends now would be RADICALLY DIFFERENT. embarrasingly enough, the thing which stopped me from going to gep was not so much the fact that there were lots of retarded projects to do (though that did contribute to my non-departure), rather, it was something ALOT more trivial. must think like a 9-year-old to understand why the 'report book issue' played the largest role in me not doing gep.

2. what if i hanged out with "the highly angmoh gang" in mg?
this could have been quite likely, coz they were from mg and i've been classmates with some of them for a long long time. heck! i used to be quite "pally" with st, k and t in p6 from sitting around them that year (hence addy's misunderstanding. hahahahha) plus...i think i was on VERY good terms with r n in p3 or p4. surprise surprise. just look at my pri school autograph book (surprise. i DID have one)...GOODNESS. i'm not close to most of the people that wrote in there now (and i keep wondering why i asked them to write in there. hahah)
BUT I DIGRESS...for one, i'll prob know a truckload of ac guys if i hanged out with them and my chinese would be quite....poor. at least even worse than now. oh...and i probably would not be so orientated more to the asian pop culture. my social circle and hobbies would be RADICALLY DIFFERENT too! but.....i prefer my lifestyle now =D yay!

3. what if i went overseas at the end of sec2?
ahhhhhh...i just found out that this could well have happened if the circumstances permitted it. then....i'll be in uk NOW!!!! slogging for my As? maybe. hahahha...or maybe i'll be in uni liao. of course, i'll be paying the home student fees for making the effort to go there at least 3 yrs before entering the uni. thennnnnn....well....i might become some bad girl due to lousy influence there, or i might be ostracized and be uber uber unhappy there. i'm glad i didn't go.

4. what if i joined yf earlier?
hmmmmmm....maybe i'll be in "the other side". or...i would be on better terms with my 'yearmates'. i dunno. it's quite weird really. you can know someone for years without really KNOWING them. well....that's life.

5. what if i didn't hear the "they steal your notes" myth?
i would definitely go to rj, if not for their competitive streak. fine...part of me still regrets not going there. they do everything for you lah! (coz their school is soooooo kiasu) like finding attachments and internships, blah blah. AND LOOK AT THEIR As RESULTS! haizzz....nevermind. at least i live with the knowledge that i can wake up late and get out of the house after 7 without being late. oh...and that i can take all the buses down, except 2! =D

6. what if i learnt the flute instead of the cello for mep?
honestly, the only thing that put me off the flute was the need to blow into that thing. you have NO IDEA how long that flute has been used for and who has blown it before. bear in mind that the flute is BORROWED FROM THE SCHOOL and it really looks....NEVERMIND. then i wouldn't really be in strings in jc (i'll be in band or sth...) and i wouldn't need to get up so early today for cem (i think that's the acronym...) prac today. but....again....other than the fact the cello takes up alot of space and is harder to carry around, i don't regret learning it. it's actually the instrument with the closest sound to the human voice! =)

7. what if i got a bf in jc?
hahaha....i don't wanna know. i bet it'll end with a break up and awkwardness all around. i'm pessimistic, yeah yeah...whatever.

~
ahhhhhhhhh.....i keep watching "we got married"!!!! =) niceeeeeeeeeee....especially hyun joong and hwanbo as well as andy and solbi! they can cook too!!!!!!! *SWOONS* the newer eps are not so nice, so i keep watching the old ones. =)

making-sweetness those blasted uni applications...
Monday, March 9, 2009 making-sweetness Back to the top

i positively LOVE nus, if only for their fuss-free application system. they fill in much of your particulars for you-including your personal details and grades- and there are many parts that you DON'T NEED to fill in if it doesn't apply to you. the best thing is........*drumroll*.......THERE'S NO NEED TO WRITE THOSE SPASTIC PERSONAL STATEMENTS OR OTHER CONFOUNDED ESSAYS!!!!!!!! =D (of course, i think those will come later. SIGH.)

ALL OTHER UNIs, PLEASE LEARN FROM NUS AND STOP MAKING US WRITE ESSAYS TO 'FIND OUT MORE ABOUT US'. hahaha....of course, this 'appeal' is made in jest. they will surely ignore this feeble voice of complaint.

and to think that i was wondering how people could possibly complete the form within half an hour without having seen the form beforehand.

making-sweetness 活该...
Sunday, March 8, 2009 making-sweetness Back to the top

i think i've 'recovered' enough to blog, thanks to all that 'mind distraction activities' i've been up to. BIIIIIIIG THANKYOU TO ALL WHO'VE ACCOMPANIED ME AND ENCOURAGED ME =D (especially since i've probably been a complete pain in the arse, going on and on whining about my results.) YOU GUYS TOTALLY RAWK!!!!

for people who want to know my marks, just guess them or ask me directly (and be 'treated' to my whinings and rantings). it's actually probably quite easy to guess once you keep in mind the fact that the amount of effort spent on the subject is in direct correlation to the grades i get for it. how much i like the subject probably has much bearing on what i get too.

then again, asking me doesn't really make a dif, coz i just launch into my tirades. it's dead easy to guess...so happy guessing!

whatever it is, i really really DO thank the Lord for answering my prayers. it just teaches you to be careful what you pray for, coz he really DOES ANSWER PRAYERS. =) i prayed for grades that i deserved and i DID get what i deserved--nothing more, nothing less. no rude surprises. and no pleasant 'tyco-ed' surprises either. i've sort of calmed down liaoz....after emoing about certain parts of the paper. *ATTEMPTS TO BRAINWASH SELF THAT IT'S JUST A STOOOOOOOOOOPID LESS-THAN-A4-SIZED PAPER*

thank God for wonderful parents who don't dwell on the sucky parts of it (which i'm very prone to doing) and for not nagging me or something. hahaha...and thank God for good friends who have been really REALLY comforting. LOVE YA PEEPS!

i feel like comforting someone now, but i don't wanna get blasted at...hmmm...and i realise how annoying other people asking about your marks can be.

some people say that it's actually quite ok lah, but i'm just PISSED at myself for not putting in that extra effort to reach my full potential. metaphorically speaking, i've been knocking my head on the wall, shooting myself in the foot and tearing the hair off my head in utter dismay. WHAT WAS I THINKING DURING THE PERIOD LEADING UP TO THE BIG EXAM MAN?!?!?!?! screwed me, screwed life, screwed choices. too late for regrets now...
~

anywayssssss....went out everyday for the past couple of days to prevent myself from emoing to death at home. i'll probably sink further into depression if i stayed at home and have nothing to occupy my mind. soooo...went to talk to teachers after getting back that blasted sheet of paper. then went to orchard with caro and suat for dinner at imperial treasure (the cheapest outlet in the chain, of course)

saturday. there was smu open house, but seriously, i really have nothing i want to apply for there. played badminton with my family in the morning too. without doubt, the major highlight was JOLYN'S BDAY TREAT! =D tai-tai lifestyle man, but can't do it everyday or we'll become broke and fat. PICS ON FACEBOOK =) should have taken more pics of the BUFFET SPREAD! especially the DESSERT SELECTION! ahhhhhhhhh....i could just camp there. all the cakes, chocolate fountain, bread and butter pudding, macaroons, (and my personal fav) the refreshing mango and mint minestrone, etc. ahhhhhhhhhhhhh....i eat my sorrows away. drown them in cake and other goodies.

ermmmmm...then i went shopping today! with my mum and sis. bought a nice blouse and stuff =)

darn....very long post liao. must churn out a letter to send with the confounded results tomorrow...HAIZZZZZZZ

making-sweetness DAY OF RECKONING...
Friday, March 6, 2009 making-sweetness Back to the top

eeps. it's TODAY. in about 14 hours. *HYPERVENTILATES!!!*

oh wells. can't change the mark or do anything about it liaoz. personally, i don't think i will do very well coz i didn't really study enough. but, as Christ said..."My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made PERFECT in weakness." so....i'll keep that in mind. chao comforting =D (esp seeing how many weaknesses i have...)

just kept thinking about this song in the past couple of weeks...i think it's called "I know Who holds tomorrow"

I don't know about tomorrow; I just live from day to day.
I don't borrow from its sunshine
For its skies may turn to grey.
I don't worry o'er the future,
For I know what Jesus said.
And today I'll walk beside Him, For He knows what is ahead.

(chorus) Many things about tomorrow

I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow

And I know who holds my hand.

Every step is getting brighter As the golden stairs I climb;
Every burden's getting lighter, Every cloud is silver-lined.
There the sun is always shining, There no tear will dim the eye;
At the ending of the rainbow Where the mountains touch the sky.

I don't know about tomorrow; It may bring me poverty.
But the one who feeds the sparrow, Is the one who stands by me.
And the path that is my portion May be through the flame or flood;
But His presence goes before me And I'm covered with His blood.

making-sweetness D-DAY...in about 2days time...
Wednesday, March 4, 2009 making-sweetness Back to the top

i was in a FOUL mood yesterday (as in monday), so i postponed blogging till today. anyways...i think everyone knows the a level results are out at 2.30 on friday...till then...SELF-DISTRACT! EMO! HAVE HORRIBLE NIGHTMARES OF Ss and Us! TOSS AND TURN IN BED! (and everyone's perennial favourite) COMPLAIN AND WHINE TO ALL AND SUNDRY ABOUT HOW DOOMED THEY ARE AND UNWILLING TO GET THEIR RESULTS!

i've been doing the last one...hehehe. erm...if i MUST look on the bright side, at least i get to see almost all my classmates and friends (expt that lucky guy adrian who'll be in uk....) on that day.

oh wells. change topic. i've passed that btt!!!! now i can terrorise people on the road...MUAHAHAHAHAH. i'll go get my pdl done later today (as in wednesday), so i can really go and get into the driver's seat. if the rate of road accidents increase, you'll know why. then again, i bet the car will stall coz i'm learning to drive manual cars--which always stall.

that day was eventful. spastic me.

on a side note, there's this stabbing cum suicide in ntu. prof stabbed by student who then commits suicide. and really near to my dad's office too...=S luckily the victim was not one of his many friends and is not from his school (that guy's from eee, my dad's from mae. but both are engineering....). my mum kept going on and on about how dangerous my dad's job is--''must be careful of the angry students that you fail!''. haiz...SCARY. considering how many of them DO fail the exams (coz i add up marks on the scripts.heheh)
